Unfortunately we will be offering children and young people fewer sessions than usual at Extratime Easter holiday schemes this year.  This applies to Hillside Play, Woody’s Play, Portslade Youth and Woody’s Youth Schemes.

To ensure the process is fair, we have taken the following approach to allocating places at the Easter holiday schemes. This means that unless you have requested fewer places,

  • children and young people we support on a 2:1, 1:1 or 1:2 basis will be offered two sessions
  • children and young people with lower support needs  will be offered three sessions

We have tried to spread these across both weeks.

This situation has occurred for a number of reasons. This is partly because the Easter school holiday has been shortened, so the scheme is reduced to just 7 days this year (term begins on Thursday 12th April). It is also partly due to staff availability and also to funding constraints.

I understand how disappointing this is if you were expecting more sessions. Your trust in us to support and care for your child at their holiday scheme is very important to us, so I hope you understand that this decision is based on the safety and welfare of the children.

We will send booking confirmations to confirm places on scheme on Thursday 8th March. We are also working hard to see if we can create more sessions by recruiting new staff to support the existing team. We will know if we can offer more by 26th March, so we will contact you then if we can offer any additional places.

In the meantime, I am also speaking to colleagues at Brighton & Hove City Council about some of the factors that have led to this situation so that we can offer your family more sessions at future holiday schemes.

Again, I am very sorry about this situation and thank you for your understanding.  Please contact the office on 01273 420580 if you have any questions or would like to discuss this.

Best wishes

Sam Price
