History

Extratime was founded by Becky Jenner and Marian Tipler both parents of children with complex needs. The first club opened in September 2003 at Hillside School in Portslade. Brighton & Hove council approached Extratime to see if they could repeat their success with Hillside after school club to open another club in the Brighton area. So in November 2004 Woodingdean after school club opened, and quickly Easter & summer play schemes followed. St Lukes was the third club taken under Extratime’s wing in Sept 2006 and Extratime became a registered charity.

In April 2007 Extratime won Charity Of The Year in the The Argus Achievement Awards. They were nominated by a parent of a severely disabled child who said “Extratime has meant the difference between being able to keep her son at home or having to consider putting him into care, it gives him a huge amount of fun”.
