finance and funding.......
extratime was established to provide affordable, out-of-school activities for all children however complex their disabilities. We employ trained and qualified play-workers and provide 1:1 support where needed so everyone can fully participate in the activities on offer. Our clubs and playschemes cost in the region of 300,000 per annum to run - we have to fundraise a third of that to keep the service going.Although parents/carers pay a fee which is in line with other clubs and playschemes in the city, the clubs will never be self-financing. For example a typical fee per after school session would be approx 8, but the actual cost of 1:1 care for a child with complex needs is in the region of 60+ a session.
The clubs have all benefited from 3 year start-up funding from the New Opportunities Fund, now Big Lottery. We have also had funding from other lottery streams, such as Better Play and Awards for All. We continue to apply to the Big Lottery where funding streams are relevant to our work.
We hold a contract with Brighton and Hove City Council, paid from their Carers Grant budget. The council has also awarded us Discretionary Grant funding up to 2010 and we have accessed funding from Extended Schools and Global Grants. We have also received funding for the playschemes from Sure Start.
extratime has received grants from a variety of other sources, such as the Local Network Fund and Children Can Do, as well as small donations from local organisations and individuals. more ...
