Want to make a difference to young people with additional needs?

Extratime is an award-winning charity providing play and leisure activities for hundreds of children and young people with and without disabilities across Brighton & Hove and West Sussex. At Extratime clubs and holiday schemes, children and young people with disabilities, complex medical needs and conditions such as autism, have the specialist support they need to have fun, try new things and make new friends. Families consistently tell us that that Extratime is their life-line. The specialist care we provide broadens horizons for children and young people. For their families, Extratime’s after school clubs and holiday schemes also alleviate some of the extreme pressure of caring for a child with a disability.

Why join us?

A2Y is a Youth Club run by Extratime and the YMCA for young people with additional needs between the ages of 13 and 25. You’ll be making a huge difference to the young people who attend and their families, as well as having fun and learning new skills. You’ll enjoy working as part of a great team of Youth Workers that support young people as they socialise, try new things and make new friends. You’ll be enthusiastic, creative, energetic, enjoy working in a busy environment and have some experience of working with children and young people, ideally including those with additional needs. The role can include providing personal care and support to the young people, for example help with eating/drinking and personal hygiene.

What can you expect?

Youth Club shifts are every Wednesday during term time, from 3.30 - 7.30pm. We pay up to £8.55 per hour, depending on your age, experience and qualifications.

We’ll also support you in building your skills and experience by providing regular on-the-job coaching and feedback, as well as offering training. Additional Holiday Scheme work is also available during school holidays
