Grub Club

Grub Club – Cookery Club for young people aged 11 (Year 7 equivalent) to 25!

We are running this as an exciting project in partnership with the brilliant team at Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, who bring a host of expertise in cookery and food literacy. Extratime staff will be available to provide support to young people who might need it to participate.

Each week the group will prepare and share a meal together with care and support from an experienced team. Young people will be supported to;

  • Make new friends & have fun
  • Learn new skills & build confidence
  • Try new foods & enjoy healthy choices

To ensure they are able to get the best from the club, the eligibility criteria for the club means each young participant will;

  • Be aged between 11 (Year 7 equivalent) and 25 years old
  • Have an interest in cooking and /or food
  • Be able to follow basic instruction
  • Have good fine motor skills (be able to hold a knife, scissors, cooking utensils)
  • Be able to eat and drink independently
  • Be able to use the bathroom independently
  • Able to focus on one activity for up to an hour and a half

The nature of this project means that we are not able to offer a place to young people with severe food allergies.

Our arrangements with local authorities mean that are our services are only open to children and young people who either live or attend school/college in the same local authority as the venue.

When: Every Tuesday during term time, 4:30 pm to 7pm

Cost: £5 per session

Grub Club will operate with 4 staff members and between 12 and 15 young people

Some support with transport costs is available.
